I am now retired, but I used to import office chairs from China in container loads. My experience would indicate that the two areas you are staying in might not be the most appropriate for car parts. Over time many factories moved north because of labour costs rising in the south. I think - but am not sure - that the Zhejiang zone is perhaps where you should be looking.

On a map it might not look very far from Shenzen to Ningbo, but it is in reality a huge distance. For example Fow Mould and Beiwei Mould are in Zhejiang.

Also, I never bought anything from a chinese factory without involving an agent or trading company. I would strongly recommend you find an agent who can find factories for you and undertake negotiations on your behalf. Chinese business culture is very different. Paying the agent will reduce your risk and save money for you.
