French Interpreter

Hi guys,

I am looking at bringing a product from a French company over to the UK in the new year. I think it has great potential. Its already being sold across France and in parts of Germany and Portugal.

I have made initial contact with the company via email and have organised a conference call with them for 5th January. However, I speak about as much French as Del Boy does, and their reply emails are in very broken English.

It is clear I am going to need an interpreter. I can hire one pretty easily I would of thought, but my question is, does anyone know of interpreters specifically for business purposes. It would be advantageous I feel if the interpreter had a savvy business mind themselves. Do such interpreter's exist and does anyone have any recommendations of where I could find one or know of anyone ?

Cheers

Asking a lot, i would expect such people to not be freelancing, but you never know

I know a girl that translated English to french in the European Parliament, but business sharp she is not, she is an interpreter!

Hi, TradeSmart. You can search the Chartered Institute of Linguists "Find-a-Linguist" database for qualified interpreters with business, legal and other professional qualifications and experience. The important thing is to get in touch well before the event so that you can provide background information, product details etc to the interpreter to prepare for the assignment. That way the session will flow as smoothly as possible. The CIOL database is national; there is also the ITI, and if looking for someone in the north of England, there is the NWTN database.

Best of luck with it. We provide commercial and legal translation and editing (among other language support services) but not interpreters any more. However, if you are looking for someone in the North West, I could pass on an interpreter's details to you.

All the best for 2015!
