#FreedomDay Are things really going to change?

Good afternoon all, I hope everyone is keeping well in this spread of decent weather that we seem to be having!

With the grand unveiling of #FreedomDay in England yesterday, it was followed by a few changes with the COVID law which will come into play in September.

How do you feel about "Freedom Day"?

Are you more than ready to get back to a sense of normality?

Or are things opening up too quickly?

Is anything genuinely going to change going forward?

Sensible people will do sensible things; stupid people will do stupid things, just like every other day of every other year.

So simply put, but absolutely right!

I have also heard of a few occurrences where the NHS covid app has pinged people

Has anyone else heard or encountered this personally?

Most people I know have deleted the app, many healthcare professionals included in the number.

As for freedom day, all a joke. All that will change is yet more controls put in place, check out all the broken promises made by the Gov so far, come election they are a dead duck, people will not forget.

Cannot have the app installed on my phone. So will not get pinged.

Have not been near other people this week yet. Will be wearing a mask for shopping with, on the bus etc. Just like have been doing for 18 months.
Avoiding crowds, avoiding being close to people who are not masked.

Things are now worse than they were last week. Most of my family are still shielding, again like they have been for 18 months.
Perhaps when the infection numbers get down to 1 percent of what they have now then can think things have improved. I do not expect that for years.

Have purchased another dozen cloth masks a couple of weeks back. In the process of converting them to give decent protection.

It's interesting to read some people's views on this.

I have also heard of a few occurrences where the NHS covid app has pinged people for no apparent reason!

Has anyone else heard or encountered this personally?

My younger sister and one of my niece's both got pinged. They think it's from when they were at the gym - but place virtually dead at 5am.
One sister in law - a supply teacher - got pinged. So of course now has to spend time not working and not earning money. Almost no contact with adults in the few days prior to pinging except her husband who is tested twice a week at work but not pinged. A & e nurse.

I feel great about ‘Freedom Day’, it’s a step closer to forgetting about this obsession with Covid that’s seeped into people!

Those who are vulnerable - or feel vulnerable - are able to continue with their personal restrictions if they wish to do so, and everyone else will just crack on with things.

Serious request - please can we keep the NHS/[political stuff of Time Out and in the Covid section (which I mostly avoid)?

    Request noted Mark.

The topic of conversation was more than Covid conversation for me. It was more to hear how people felt about things perspectively "opening up again" and how "normal" things are actually going to be moving forward.

I'm basically asking "What are you going to do with yourself now"!

I hear you - unfortunately it does get taken over by certain voices, particularly when NHS is mentioned!
