Does anyone no of a free e-commerce design website?

I am looking at trying to expand our avenues of sales and also get people to know about the gym were the supplements are being sold from.

Cheers

Hi Jack,

If by free design you mean free templates then yes, open source ecommerce platforms such as Prestashop come with free templates hence you do not need to pay extra for design.
You would of course still need to pay for a domain name and hosting :)

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Tim

Slightly ot but why do people think that by spending close to nothing they can have any hope of making any money??

It may be all well and good getting an open source cart and chucking a free template on it which would need customising to some degree but what about the time to stock the store, promotion, seo, marketing, etc?

Seems to me that people really don't realise how much is involved....

Yes I agree and it seems that some people encourage this mentality...do your own SEO, learn web design, etc...wait a minute, aren't they meant to be concentrating on running their business not learning a whole new discipline.

You should base your choice on what you need what they offer. And in todays world free does not always mean no cost. For example you may spend weeks or months configuring our site only to find out if you need a certain feature it not avilable free. Or worse still it is free but outdated or does not work because it's been coded by someone who didn't know enough.

Build a list of you needs and then checkoff each "free" shopping cart.

    Because it is online.

In the real world no one would ask for a shop and fittings for free so they can make a profit. So why on earth people expect a product or service for free because it is web based, that they can then go and make a profit from is beyond me.

Set my shop up online 12 years ago, back then it cost me £50, I can do the same now for about £20. Thats for good UK hosting + domain + shopping cart software. Everything else I did myself. I was making money from day one and still doing so thanks.

But I also know not everyone wants what I did or would suit what I did. People have decide what the need before the go shopping for software and as I said free is not always "cost less". Magneto for example costs a great deal more then free for a uk shop setup properly. I would estimate just the minimum hosting would be £10-20 a month more the other "free" shopping carts.

I started my webstore 4 years ago, and all it has cost me is my time in setting it up, and running it. It takes time and was fun to do. There is no need to pay different businesses a small fortune to do something that you can do yourself, even if it means you have to start from the beginning and learn how to do it. This is all part of running a small business.

Stay away from complicated and slow sytems like magneto and choose opencart or something similar, just to get you started. As you learn and improve your store, change the software accordingly.

With your appalling spelling are you also going to write your own copy for 'free' on your 'free' e-commerce site?

Mark your products analyze them and then start working on them, according to me, magento and Os commerec are the best platforms for designing. :)
"According to me"? So you're quoting yourself and recommending chalk and cheese. Oscommerce is very old, at least recommend Zencart in its place. What's your justification? And no I'm to clicking to your article and reading it...explain it on here please?

As you have two main goals to promote your local gym and sell supplements then I would recommend wordpress with the woo commerce plugin.

This way you can utilise the pre-existing features and array of plugins available to promote both businesses. Google maps for location, gallery for the gym, events plugins for promotional events at the gym, posts for news, pages for main informational content, enquiry forms to book sessions/classes etc etc alongside the ecommerce side for your supplements.

However I agree you get what you pay for, if you want it to look professional and have a higher chance of converting then you may want to spend on premium templates and someone to set it up for you.

For the people saying learn how to do it yourself, I understand the need to keep expenses down in this economy but this in most cases can cause a large opportunity cost, the time spent learning how to be a web developer could instead be used to drive your business, time is money.

Sit back look at the big picture and your hours as an entrepreneur and calculate what actions completed by you will bring the best return on the investment of your time.

    I hope this helps

Can you give justification for your recommendation and please don't just reply "cos it's good"

As of my analysis Agriya's private shop consist of more than 25 exclusive features which makes the script more valuable, the script is developed in PHP and also it seems to be easily customizable.More over they are playing a good business in the market.

Few people whom i know, have been using Agriya's products and most of them have come out with good feedbacks they were also happy about the post sales support..
And is there any need to have connection for suggesting a brand?
No but considering the number of "spammy" posts you have made promoting it here and elsewhere plus the fact that the whois for the domain is hidden http://whois.domaintools.com/agriya.com it certainly makes me think that you are either connected with the company or have been employed to promote it.
