Hi,
I was a sole trader and then became an employee. I recently did a contracting job in IT for a company which lasted about two months. I was actually looking to work as a contractor for long term but after finishing that job I did not find a new contract and so continue to work as an employee.

Now, I need to fill the form CWF1 to re-register as a sole trader. However, I have two main questions:
-on the form it is said "If you are, or will be, doing all your work for another person or firm, enter their name and address below.".

I actually did the job for only one company but it was not my intention. So do I state their details here?

Second, the sole trader role was actually finished and I am no longer a sole-trader. there is no field in the form to notify HMRC of that. What is the best course of action? Should I let them know later when I fill the self-assessment?

Thank you in advance.

No. HMRC may think you should be an employee.

There is a place on your self assessment form to enter the dates you were self employed.
