We have a wealth of experience in Fish n chips, Mobile van 12 years and shop for over 10 years. We offer training in both. We are based in Bedfordshire if you thinking of coming into this trade you definitely need to be trained. Regards Teri Baker

Why do I 'definately need to be trained?'

Looking at the counter in my local it would appear that anyone with a pulse is capable of it.
To be fair, it does depend what the training involves.

Anyone can chuck chips into a friar; the big problem that hospitality start-ups have is that they don't differentiate between the product & the business.,

Actually not quite true - i know enough to know if you get the temp of the oil wrong either the batter burns before the fish cooks or you get a greasy splodge. (equally true with the chips)

There is all the H&S and food hygiene you have to learn for any food outlet as well.

Agree - you can fairly quickly pick up cooking basics but there is far more to it.

I have eaten literally hundreds of fish and chips in my life.

And suddenly, I need training?
Then i bet you can instantly say whether a chippie is Good or Bad for the price point and make your buying choices accordingly.

If I was setting up a chippie/chip van and someone could for a reasonable price ensure customers decided Good not Bad from day 1 then i think it would be worth it (assuming i hadn't previously worked at another chippie and learnt the "secrets")

Reminds me of this place https://goo.gl/maps/wFRSnU3FjSUCgNzcA

It was so good. I live about 10 miles from the from the other side of LOndon and I would drive there for the fish and chips. Business sold on, some eastern european bought it and they changed quite a bit of things about the menu. Went from a fish and chips place to a jack of all trades doing burgers, wings, bit of everything.

The quality pretty bad now. Thye need to go on a fish and chips course. badly.

Chips used to be triple cooked before, now they're very ordinary - tast like they could have been single cooked.
