First visit to Guangzhou - Furniture Sourcing

We are travelling to Goungzhou on the 19th of December and we will be staying for 10 days. We have found some furniture manufacturers in the Goungzhou area and we are now looking for an agent.

We are an online furniture retailer with approximately 800 lines. We have imported a small container a year ago and we are now ready to work with a few factories on a regular basis.

I have a cousin who travels to the Goungzhou area at least 3 times a year and he has put me in touch with his agent over there. However his agent specialises in textiles & clothing and not furniture.

The type of furniture we are looking for is modern and contemporary dining room tables and chairs.
We have already shortlisted approximately 40 different factories but we are not sure whether they might be agents who might be acting as factories.

Does anybody know of any highly recommended furniture agents?
Does anybody know of any large factories that are worth visiting?
We are planning to stay at the Holiday Inn Guangzhou City Centre which is on Huan Shi Dong Road, does anybody recommend any better hotels in this area?

I forgot to mention................

Our offices are a 5 minute walk from the hotel you will be staying at.

We can collect you from the airport and provide you with an interpreter throughout your stay in China.

They will advise you on everything about Guangzhou, restaurants, shopping areas, leisure activities, the furniture markets, the furniture areas ( about a 1 hour drive from your hotel ). The furniture area, just outside of Guangzhou will open your eyes to many many new products.

China is much bigger and tougher to get around than you might imagine. Guangzhou is a very big place by UK standards.

You will find factories in that area, but many moved to the north (nearer Shanghai) for cheaper labour costs.

Enjoy your trip, China is a wonderful country, though not without problems.
