As with most products commercially bought, it is always advisable to meet with the supplier before commiting to purchase. Alibaba is rapidly becoming the ebay of Asia with a greater number of small traders joining in some not so scrupulous. One of the girls in our Dongguan office used to work for them in southern china. They take a hefty commision on sales something that should be considered when placing volume orders.

If you are serious , do it properly , visit them , audit the, sample and try,and build a relationship.

Asia is very different that Europe.

My favourite saying is that the chinese know the cost of everything but the value of nothing . For example if Im booking internal flights in China. The China office will book the lowest cost ie travel late night or early morning , this will save maybe £20 , but the value of the lost sleep and the waiting around is not considered just the £20

One last thing when youve conquered China you should try Africa......!

Also many clients import from China, they said it's trouble for them.
I want to know the reason.

The trouble in the last year is the USA , vetting all transactions ..its a pain..

i gave up on a new product from China due the the risks ..NOT with China i will add ,BUT with HSBC and the new enforced USA regulations aimming to break the China Manufacturing stronghold.

Your Government need to act and quick .. give USA a kick up the bottom.
Well on 23rd November i sent $ 508 US dollars to China to pay for a New Prototype product i want to sell both in UK and Spain, it is agreed that if i like the new Model i can have exclusive sales rights if i buy the Quantity etc..

So via Internet Banking i send $ 508 US Dollars over to there Bank in China, didnt give it a second thought assume its all on its way and done and dusted ..

a few days later i get a phone call ..
"hello this is HSBC blah blah blah , the reason we are ringing we have been asked for more info from the USA on the transaction, " so i say what you on about (this guy speaks the usual slight English but is obvious in India or somewhere ) well he says they have asked for the following ..

So i say what the hell you on about ? as i have done loads of transactions with China on Container purchases etc in the past and never had any problems ..

Well i have a request here with things they need to know before sending the funds . At which point you tell them to send the Money its My Money FFS etc etc . In my normal dont take any crap way
coffeenews5.gif

So he tells me its International Law !!!! Well never heard so much crap in my life etc i tell him but after a few minutes i say come on then lets have a laugh
new_argue.gif

So , What is the full name of the Company the money is going to , so i drag out the proforma Invoice and tell him ..
Next, What is the product i am buying ? So again i explain as best i can .
Next, What vessel is the product going on , Now dont be so stupid the things not even made yet its a prototype . Well he says they are asking , so tell me how do i know its not me making it is it ???
Next, Will this Consignment be going via , Cuba , Iran , Iraq and a few other places he mentioned ? Now how the heck would i know i am NOT the Captain am i ? which he agrees and laughs .. Stupid question right ...
Next, Is this Item going to UK or Spain ? I tell him Spain , ok where in Spain ? I tell him The paradise island Mallorca ..
So if its going to Mallorca is there a reason why a UK based Company is buying it ? yes its my UK Company and i want it to go to Mallorca right
angry.gif
starting to get the hump again now ...

So i say we are talking 500 dollars here about £ 300 FFS its my money and i will send it where the heck i like .. He says its not me its the new regulations we have to follow ..

So we eventually get back to the questions,

Next, Is it for my own use or for resale ? So i try and explain its a for me its a product i may be launching at which point if i like it i will sell them and bring over in Bulk although God knows what a nightmare thats likely to be using you Dickheads right !!

A Few more stupid questions which i now forget was asked , and then he says well i will put the form back to them .. If theres a problem what should i do ? I say if theres any problems tell me , send my money back to me and i will get a proper bank to send the money ..

Next thing my China guy tells me still had no money this is now 12th December .. so i ring HSBC they say its in China , so i tell my China contact to check his Bank etc ...

He reports back 2 days later there is nothing in China from me ..

Back to HSBC , Now they tell me its still in HSBC New York USA !!!! I am not amused as you can imagine , so i blow my top ..As the last Guy said China its in China already !!!!!!!...

Right i want my money put back in my account now , . And a lot of angry words are said as you can imagine..

I get back in touch with my China Guy who is not amused and now says his Bosses will not let me have exclusive agency as they have lost all confidence in me !!!!

So HSBC have cost me big time ...

My last experience

I've had a look on Chinesefactorysourcing.com but I don't think it's really right for the products I'm looking for. Initially I am looking to source fashion accessories but more specific men's and ladies belts.

Does any one know of any companies that are safe to deal with that maybe specialize in fashion products?

Also has any had any experience with samples being sent out that don't match the quality of the final product?

Would appreciate some advise guys!!

Hello Freddie

I have a few friends that come over here Guangzhou, China, 3-4 times a year, Liverpool lads and Londoners, who are into belts, watches, fashion accessories etc. These guys opperate the markets in UK and also have quite a few retails outlets. I myself dont really do these kind of products but i usually let them use one of my girls while they are here, to take them round the respective areas where these products are found, and then she follows them up checking on quality and quantity. I might be able to put you on the right track. I also have some friends who live here that are currently supplying some of the big retailers back in Uk, M&S etc. If you need more advice just get in touch. Ive been here 8 years and found that if you want what you pay for, you need someone looking after your back this side.

Dear all,

It exists risks to import goods from China, especially for the first cooperation with Chinese suppliers.

In order to avoid the possible lost, we suggest you use inspection company. And in your absence, we can monitor the entire quality related process and the quality problems will be identified and prevented at source, prior to shipment and possibly during production.

If you need inspection services, please contact us for more information.

We are a new agency based in the UK for selling Chinese products. Following very recent visits to a number of Chinese Manufactures in Guangdong Province we are satisfied that the companies are genuine. I now wish to find a shipping agent(s) who can deal with shipping of the expectant orders to the UK and the necessary import paperwork.

This is our first venture and would be obliged for any guidance that members can offer

regards

I usually post on how well my china trading has gone, but this time I got scammed. I've lost £500 - and it's my fault.

My usual trading pattern is to use sites such as alibaba, and search out what I want to buy, then I do the usual research and see what Google brings back over the years and trading has been good with repeat business.

This time, while searching I got sidetracked and found something that with hindsight was to good to be true. A product that was cheap, and not something I'd sell as it reality it was bound to be a knock-off (which I don't trade in) BUT it would have been something I could use myself, so I ordered two, in greedy mode - and after a few emails, we agreed on $800. Now, I've even realised the freight cost quoted was far too cheap too.

The company website has now vanished, and they simply don't exist any more.

No doubt many people would moan and groan - but realistically, the deal was too good, on a product that probably never even was available - the bank transfer happened, the money went into their account - and I was stupid!

It's not hard to check things out, looking for comment on the net - and searching their bank account numbers, company name etc - but for the amazing deal, I didn't do my usual checks. Pure stupidity and something to remember!

Do you believe in luck in business? Hi, my names Kieran Rowan, I’m currently studying business entrepreneurship in my third year at university. I am a big believer in karma, what you do for others comes back to you so im reaching out for your help please. I am currently collecting data for my dissertation which is on luck in business (good or bad) which is completely anonymous. I’ve made a luck survey to gather people’s views on this interesting topic but really need your help just to fill it out. The website is lucksurvey.co.uk and I would be very grateful if you would complete this 10 minute survey and hopefully in the future luck will shine back on you when you need it the most just like you have done for me. Thanks.

Its a pain indeed. All dollar payments that are wired anywhere in the world have to be routed through the US so they can look into the way that their currency is being used in all transactions. Since 9/11 they have obviously upped the ante. Who knows maybe they do abuse it for economic reasons, but then the US have borrowed huge amounts of money from the Chinese to stabilise their economy so they dont want to pi$$ them off too much

Okay, I have tried googling your site and have only got you comments in various forums asking for people to visit your website, but not the website itself. Why dont you cut and paste the URL. I too am a big believer in karma and that you get back in direct proportion to what you give out, so I would be quite keen to participate. Cheers

The Far East is a great place to do business, China in particular offers so many different options and choices – don’t be put off by the complexities that can and sometimes are involved. There are so many people that are willing to help and advise – just be sure to check, check and check again and you can’t go too far wrong.

jeewizz, Hi

I noticed on one of your posts that you have a british friend working in China helping people with importing/exporting. I have tried to PM you but apparently your inbox is full.

I am involved with a currency exchange service and I am looking for introducers who regularly deal with people who have a need for currency exchange services. This can prove a great additional income stream if you can recommend the service to people who regularly transact currency (e.g importers/exporters). Your friend may already have an arrangement in place for this but if not, or if they would like to see what we could offer in terms of earning potential let me know. Ultimately, they can offer the client a better deal on their currency transactions and earn an income from a simple referral to us.

My apologies if this is of no interest.

Regards

BAD SUPPLIER FROM CHINA

Please help/advice

We are a small business and in order to extend our product line we imported two beds from China to test the market.
First the supplier sent the shipment at the wrong port and worst the product with the wrong specification. It cost us lot off money as we have to pay the duty ,taxes , handling charges and the transport.
Now we have the products we do not need , the supplier is very uncoprative and refuses to replay and accept any resposabilities. We would like the supplier either to refund the cost or to replace the items

Is there any organistion who can help us or put some pressure on the supplier.

Any help/advice

Thanks
Ziya

too bad,
next time be more careful, ask more before you place an order.
