Finish For Christmas

Hey everyone, hope you doing well.

I was wondering what kind of break you guys have for Christmas. As a small business owner its sometimes possible to get carried away and work all through Christmas. I know in the UK most workers finish today at 1pm and maybe go back in the New Year.

I most likely will finish around the 23rd December, go back a few days like 27th, 28th December, then come back in the New Year.

Given the chance and in the past I've worked through it, it's a waste of time in my books... but we've finished early, been a funny year and we're off to our cottage first thing in the morning for a week. When SWMBO dutifully informed me of this drastic move my face was a picture, apparently.
Usually business will be resumed as of the 28th.

We finish Monday afternoon, however our customers mostly finish ordering from us 2 days ago.
A few orders here and there, nothing like busy times.

We don't work Christmas eve. And we both take Christmas day off, both having worked multiple Christmas days in the past.
Boxing day back to work - plenty of stuff to do plus usually a number of orders to package up ready for next day.
We treat boxing day like a Sunday, chance to catch up on orders and find stuff before being busy on next working day.

Actually, in hindsight it will do me good, a week away from the idiots that masquerade as clients...dogs on beaches, maybe some fishing, meals out, decent beer and some friends joining us for a few days. Sheer bliss, what was I talking about.......

In the past, particularly when working in banking, I’ve been lucky to get Boxing Day off some years because the Luxembourg stock exchange doesn’t recognise it as a holiday. At most, I’ve been used to getting Christmas Day and potentially a day or two either side. Generally always had to work New Year’s Day as well most years.

So this year, having had a great end to the year, just tied up and finalised my last deal, I’m taking a proper Christmas break and probably won’t do much until the 6th! Can’t wait.

If something comes in over the couple of weeks i’ll sort it, but I’m not going to go looking for anything for sure.

Quite a number of jobs don't recognise Christmas day or boxing day as a holiday. Need staff in, need customers to be dealt with.
Sadly there aren't usually enough volunteers to work those days so schedules have to be adjusted to require staff in place.
