Like the above, try all the social networks or just type his name in Google. You will be surprised what you can find just doing that.

On Google + and facebook less than 2 weeks ago but have since upped and done a runner with many people's money (a lot of money)

If it is that serious, then you need to contact the police and anti fraud legislation will help track them electronically through transactions, passport use etc.

I don't believe they would but it is linked to a business. It is quite a few thousand.

I don't want to plaster to many details on a public forum as you can image but the country likes to kick footballs literally

I am told they are still checking emails so a honeytrap it must be. Get them to land on a webpage and pick up some GEO IP info from this?
