Finding Event Promoters

Ok so here's my hopefully sensible question....

Last November myself and my Girlfriend started a new event business, We created a show, hire venue and sold tickets etc etc...

We planned to do 2 shows a year as we both have other jobs.

Due to high demand we managed to sell 4 nights in november (between 750-1000 people a night). We turned over around £80,000 - £100,000 which blow us away tbh.

We would like to do our show in local towns all around the country and would like to know where to find event promoters...everyone we have found are big companies dealing with celebs etc etc to big for us...Is there anywhere you can find event promoters?

Also what is the best appoarch, email? telephone call? letter?

Thanks

What kind of event? There are lots of different event promoters to choose from, but most have specific themes, music, business, etc.

I would certainly be interested to know what kind of show it is that can sell tickets for £25 a head and get 1,000 people a day for four days, with what (I assume) is little experience of the events sector.

Hi,

We created a gameshow night, where anyone can win prizes....tickets where more than £25 a head but prizes worth around £15000 plus we made money advertising the companies that provided the prizes....we also had sponsorship for a local newspaper we advertised it as part of the deal.

I have little event experience but my girlfriend has more than me.

We had very good prizes...we had a brand new car for a year, holiday, cash, 42'' tv, mps players laptops shopping vouchers, make overs etc etc.....That's my strong point....getting people to give me things for next to nothing

Well i assume your in the holiday business....so if someone came to you and said they will advertise your holiday deal to a room full of people you want it.....plus any online advertisement....and it wont cost you a penny....all we ask is you give us your package at cost price....both parties are happy

Hey Evofm

Give me a call, I run skiddle.com - we're a What's On guide and we have over 19,000 event promoters registered with us. We also have a full ticket sales service so can help you sell tickets for the events.

Look forward to speaking with you

Car lease 1 year circa £3K. Holiday £1500. Margins 10%. So I give you a £2700 car and £1200 holiday in exchange for your advertising the prize to a room full of people - oh and on-line advertisement somewhere in cyberspace and both parties happy.

I have no doubt you would be. I know I wouldn't and please don't offer the car deal to Ling of Ling Cars. We would hear here laughing all the way down from the North East.

No wonder you were wary of posing your question on the other thread. Do you really expect season promoters to buy into this but hey. Lets go back over what you say.

Your get the prizes and sell the tickets to this roomful of people. A pretty big room I presume and the prizes you get are free. What do I have to do and what is my split. Seriously I would like to know and I might give it a go. I belong to a charity org that has a chapter in over 500 big towns in the UK and we have at least 3 big events a year in each. Mayday being the biggest.

Sounds like you have a great formula, well done......but!

If the format is great, you can demonstrate it works and can turn over £100K in a week, why not just do it yourselves?

Once a month gives a million pound turnover in a year, that would be a valuable commodity.
