Hi,

As in previous posts im currently in the process of setting up my own home made cards and stationary company. I decided that it would be best to get some of my crafts out to friends and family "freebies" to get the process of word of mouth started and the recommendations! However, im currently buying my materials from, Hobbycraft and the like and paying full retail price on them, so thought it may be best for me to sort out a wholesaler to see if i could purchase the items in bulk cheaper. However i have no idea where i need to start with this, Im in the essex area and trying to find one via google is just bringing up general craft stores like thoes mentioned above. How do i get into the wholesaler market so i can start saving money on my mock up?

Thanks
Nikki

I don't claim to know your market and I have no ideas about wholesalers. However, what i would say is when starting off don't be afraid to buy retail from a large firm, the reason being this. They're buying in huge bulk that you never could and therefore get the best prices. Even buying bulk from a wholesaler you may actually find your trade price is the same or near the same as these guys are retailing them at. The bigger the order the cheaper the price is a general rule of thumb. you may be buying in 10s or 100s, these guys are buying in thousands or tens of thousands at a time.
