Hi Guys,
I could really use some thoughts, constructive criticism, etc on my intended business.
Basically, I am looking to operate as a finance/bookkeeping trainer. Initially, I am looking at offering a comprehensive bookkeeping course which I have already written. The course is around 8 working days in duration (including test). I have looked at the ICB qualifications and my material probably covers the vast majority of their manual syllabus.
My target markets are:
Businesses in my region who I hope to convince that sending some of their accounts staff on a bookkeeping course would be beneficial to them. This would be an evening class (6-9pm) once a week for around 16 weeks. Training would take place at a hired venue. Breakfast courses also under consideration.
Mid-Tier accountancy firms who I hope to convince that a crash bookkeeping course for their new recruits would save them time & money in work-based training and support their staff in financial accounting exams. These would be held at their offices or hired facility and would be 8-10 days duration.
I hope would hope to later add AAT revision courses to the student market. I am planning a website, mail shots and networking such as joining local chamber of commerce.
Charge would be around £250 plus VAT per delegate for a course.
I am a qualified ACCA and have 13 years experience in practice and industry up to FD level. I spent time on secondment 8 years ago delivering training and it was the best experience of my career. Having been made redundant, I am looking for a change of direction.
Any thoughts? Can I make a living doing this? I am not interested in empire building.
Many thanks,
Andy
