Hi, I've never actually made EU purchases before for my business and i'm finding it hard to fill in the VAT return with these extra figures. Could someone please help me complete the boxes. These are just dummy amounts for the quarter:

Payment I received for my work done:
£10,000 - Net VAT
£2000 -VAT
£12,000 - Inc VAT

Money I spent on items for my business:
£2500 - Net VAT
£500 VAT
£3000 - Inc VAT

EU purchases I made, for which I didn't play VAT up front as I supplied my VAT number:
£2000 - Net VAT

-----
The total VAT to pay should be £1500, but it's coming out as £1900.

Thanks a lot
Jon

The effect of the reverse charge is that a taxable supply is deemed to be made by the recipient of the service in the UK in the course of furtherance of business. The customer accounts for the output tax as if they had a made the supply themselves. The VAT may also be recovered as input tax subject to the normal rules.
