Hi thechief,
From a website usability angle, my top 11 suggestions for increasing your conversion rate would be:
1) Take a good look at your Google Analytics numbers (I see you have tracking installed). Often the answer is in the detail...
Which pages are most / least popular?
What is your overall / individual page bounce rate?
Which keywords send traffic to your website?
Are most of your visitors new / existing or a good mixture of both?
2) Have you carried out comprehensive keyword research (Long tail vs short tail) for the terms used within your website copy? All search engines love to chew on words...
Also, instead of manufacturer product titles in URL's, I would suggest using the most appropriate keyword term available that is searched for.
3) Fix your SEO issues (H1 headings way too long, duplicate title tags etc) and validate your coding (118 errors / 23 warnings) - true SEO starts with web hosting and good coding and moves forward to on website / on page / off page.
4) Your buying guides are where people will look to to get advice on what to get their partner. The link to this informative guide is right at the bottom of your website, hidden under "links". This should a call to action for would-be buyers to click on right at the top.
5) I suggest putting your buying icons (Secure Shopping, Paypal etc) at the top right of your website so visitors can immediatly get out their credit cards.
6) Put your contact details (tel / email) in large font right at the top of the website - make people believe that you're ready to engage, open for business and want contact.
7) Put a little box, above the fold, on the right hand side that covers customer services, delivery, why buy from us, refund policy etc (another call to action) - give customers confidence and make them feel secure..
8) Newsletter is a great idea, but again hidden too far down - bring it up to above the fold - if visitors aren't ready to purchase, get them to sign up to your newsletter - this emailing list could be worth thousands down the road...
9) The image on the home page, although excellent, is far too big. You could use all that space for smaller images and more text.
10) All in all, make it easy for people to buy.
11) Then, look at Google Adwords to drive traffic your way (unless you are already running a PPC campaign). Remember to send them to individual landing pages, not the home page (common expensive mistake made by many customers and agencies alike!).
