Fasthosts - email down again? (23.11.09 1pm)

I think seeing some of the feedback on this forum and others, plus the steady stream of ex Fasthosts customers joining us, their service is steadily going down hill.

They used be be very good but for the response time to a problem like this to be nearly a day is not acceptable.

I would hope that they would be issuing customers some form of compensation such as 3 months free hosting or similar.

Several years ago we had a similar situation when the data centre you used to use changed ownership and went downhill fast.

We moved data centres as fast as we could and gave all our customers 6 months free hosting. Although it cost us money, we worked out that due to the fact we didn't loose any customers over it, it saved us money overall.

Come on Fasthosts get you hands in your pockets and compensate your customers for this unacceptable outage.

I can not comment on their past levels of service.

Based upon my experience, their business model is to dupe new customers into year long contracts with no release regardless of issues experienced.

There are only a handful of firms that I would like to see go to the wall and they are one of them.

I tried to get out of a contract with them.... apparently it wasn't possible. In the end they were taking so much money from my account that I had to cancel my card! (note that they told me this was the only way to cancel my account!)

I would not recommend them, and will not use them again myself!

Well originally we just signed up for domain registration and hosting - but for some reason I kept getting other charges and they wouldn't tell me what they were for! I had upwards of 6 charges a month on my statement, and they would only account for which were the registration and hosting charges.

They can come knock my door down if they like, but until they prove that I used the other services which I know I didn't (and tell me what they are!) I won't pay them a penny!

Well they were the ones that told me to cancel my credit card! haha so not really sure, but I have the phone conversation recorded on my phone in case they bring that in to dispute further down the line.

I have however now left the company that this contract was for, so I'm unsure as to whether they have been chasing any money!

We have been using fasthosts for 12 months and throughout the WHOLE of november and december 2009 they have had weekly problems with emails. We get around 2000 emails per day and they either don't come at all or get delayed - two weeks ago (2 December) the emails were delayed for 7 days - yes, we received around 14,000 emails all at once delayed.

Fasthosts are a joke, when you ring them they don't even know of the issue, today I spent 30 minutes on the phone with them (23 December 2009) to explain to some foreign lady what the issue was (support reference number 2397718) - only when she sent an email from an external account did she realise that we weren't receiving emails on time.

We have decided that we've had enough of these cow boys. We will also be issuing them with a court summons to recover our annual subscription as they've not been able to provide us with the service we paid for - this will be our of principal rather than the cost which is small relative to the amount of problems they have caused us.

I have already ensured that one colleague who purchases server space from them move to another company.

I am happy to hear from anyone else who has had similar problems.

Bit I strongly recommend against using fastshots - their service is poor, they have significant email downtime and issues and their attitude to resolving problems is that "there are no problems".

    Feeling really sorry to hear this..I guess you had restless Xmas.
    A good support is really important.

    Yes, they ruined Xmas for sure, as you can imagine we had over 4000 customer emails go missing - obviously fasthosts do not care at all about anything or anyone - they are just a bunch of cowboys that now have their support in the phillipines and they admitted that they just asnwer the phones and can't actually do much to help me !!!

    Stay away from fasthosts is my message, they are clueless.
