What do people consider to be the best for a business on facebook? A group or a fan page? Can you incorporate both? What are peoples views?

Having both would be a bit confusing, I suspect. I tend to lean towards pages (they're "meant" for businesses), but under some circumstances you may find a group more suitable.

It depends on what you want to do on behalf of the business, really - drive discussion? Post links? Share photos?

I;d advise having a Business Page for your business, but it's only worth putting in the effort if you are a B2C/retail kind of business. People use Facebook without a sut on, by and large, having ben dragged on because of friends and family. They#'re not going to be poking their watercooler supplier or wanting to sport a mention of their accountant on their profile page.

Groups can be about anyti=hing so you may want to start a group around a business interest that appeals to your customers. For example, if you are a car leasing company start a group for Ex Company Car Drivers.

Groups that are some how business related are probably best done on LinkedIn however.

Hi All,

just a quickie....social media advertising is here for the long term, in Q2 2010 it was the the best performing small business advertising channel, why? because minus manpower and time its free - my advice is make yourselfs social media heavyweights and test, measure and learn with pay per click in order to compete.

All the best,
Tom
