Just realised you can have an online shop in Facebook linked to your fan page.

Has anyone got one?

If so, did it provide you with more sales?

Is there a cost involved?

Thanks in advance

As lesliedocherty says, it's probably not a good idea. I think some of the big players experimented with selling via facebook but most people tended to see a product on facebook and then go to the main website to buy it so they closed their facebook stores.

Have a facebook page by all means and us it to display your products but send users off to your own website to actually make the purchase.

    Hello!
I wouldn't advise you to ignore Facebook as a marketplace. It is a very useful tool to attract people. I agree that most of visitors won't buy directly from Facebook but you may and have to encourage them to visit your e-commerce store. It will definitely bring you some additional traffic and conversion.
Here is a nice post with tips about establishing a Facebook store. Hope it helps.

It hasn't worked for me I haven't put much time into it however as it was just a tester but have had no sales from the facebook pages with a small but respectable amount of fans (over a thousand) and quite social friendly products (tried it with 3 of my brands over the years). I do not utalise facebook as fully as I should do to the opportunity cost of doing this so this is my own personal experience rather than a reflection of the concept as a whole (I do know people that get business through facebook and have helped businesses in the past but not with a facebook shop). I have no idea what can be achieved if you spend real time and effort on it. It depends on your product, your brand, your approach and how much you put into it. My approach is to use facebook to engage and offer social proof which helps draw them to the shop on occasion and does help my conversion with customers that find me elsewhere. However again I do not use even that nearly as much as I should though.

    Hope this helps
