Hi everyone,

This may have been asked before, but does any of you guys have any experience on running Facebook PPC campaigns recently?

I've tried it long time ago, when it was in it's infancy, and I'm sure it's changed a lot, more targeted etc.

Would you have any advice as to if it's worked for anyone in terms of sales? Or do you think it's still just a load of 'brand awareness' and low CTR?

Many thanks in advance,
Saija Mahon

Hi There,

Couple of things:

1/ Yes - this does get asked all the time.
2/ Facebook is used by people to swap pics, chat to friends, flirt etc. They are not really looking for anything - google, people are looking for stuff. Facebook does have lots of users, but good for brand marketing as opposed to lead generation.

Regards,

FB is a marketing whores paradise, you spend money on FB ads and never really get what you want!

Google is the place!

Specific keywords on specific domains, with a touch of PPC and other Social grace will get you much better ROI in the long run :D

Facebook PPC does work, Andrew above has got it spot on, be creative with your ads and think outside the box.

We've got a dedicated account manager at Facebook as had an agency account provided for us to manage our clients within. They've provided tons of guides, documentation and tips to get the most out of your PPC campaigns. It's really improved compared to 12-18 months ago and we're seeing much better results from it now.

Make use of demographics, really target your ads to the right audience, there are loads of demographic/geographic options to really ensure your ads are only displayed to those people that are interested. Fail to manage this effectively and expect to see a CTR of less than 0.8%

Plenty of factors to consider:-

Are your market on Facebook? Research your market, identify their movements.

What do they use Facebook for? Are they active when at work? Are they sharing content related to your industry, are they asking related questions? Are they looking for what you have to sell/offer?

What is your purpose for the ads? Building likes for a business page, building traffic to an external website, directing traffic to a sales page to convert.

Research ad psychology and understand perfecting ad copy to cater for the relevant viewers. This may be of use to anyone requiring help for writing ad copy, whilst it's fairly old, it's still extremely useful to know how to write for the desired audience.
