Facebook - oops, help !

Hello all, think I broke my facebook, hope you can help.

I know very little about facebook but thought I should start to use it.

Created a personal account and created our company page off that account.

Tonight after reading on here that you no longer needed 25 likes to get your company name as your 'username' I have created my username (making it our company name).

I expected when someone enteres the URL: www.facebook.com/ourcompany that they would see my company page but instead they see my personal page (which is very basic, nothing embarrassing thank god, as only set it up to create the company page).

How can I set things so people see my facebook company page (not my personal page) when using the 'facebook.com/company name' URL I created ?

You can't once you set the page name, you will need to create another page and then create another url but be it as facebook.com/ourcompanydesigns or something similar.

The name is correct but it is attributed to my personal page - Can I not set things so that my company page displays as default instead of my personal profile ?

I cannot see how to set a username for my company page seperately - the company page kind of hangs off my personal profile if that makes sense.

First to correct your usernames...

It depends if your FB personal profile vanity URL was previously set or not, as you are allowed one change of the URL for personal profiles.

Log in to FB & visit this link...

https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=account&section=username&t

Change your personal profile username (this will also become your facebook email address)

Now visit

www.facebook.com/username

Very important! Make sure you select the correct FB page (if you have more than 1) from the drop down box.

Now add your preferred FB page username

Unfortunately the username you assigned to your personal profile in error will not be available so you will have to choose something different.

In answer to your question you can't default to a business page, all features through FB can only be accessed through a personal profile.

Andrew, you were spot on.

Changed my personal profile username to something personal ie. firstname.lastname.uk

I had hoped this would free up 'companyname' so I could use it on my company page but it didn't so went with 'companyname.uk' for the company page.

Annoyed with myself for screwing this up in the first place but ended up with an ok solution

You could always try contacting Facebook - if you explain your mistake they may free up your companyname username to use on your business page.

I read somewhere that it takes 14 days for the incorrect username to be unlinked from the personal profile - if you wait 14 days you should be able to use the name again on your business profile.

It would be nice to get confirmation of this - anyone know?

Ok so I changed my personal vanity URL today, then reused the same URL for my new business page. Did it all today.
