How easy are these to implement for your website?

Most newspapers etc use them, This Facebook page & website uses it https://www.facebook.com/patriceevrafootballer

Basically lets the Facebook users friends, know if they read a article on our website.

Is it a simple plugin/app to install or are these custom built?

I guess you have to register your website with facebook, and then you need somebody who can do the changes on the website.

If this can be done as a plugin depends on how is your website made. Wordpress, joomla etc.

This should not be very difficult and there are lot of examples on the web.
