Probably been covered lots of times but lets have a refresh,

Has anybody had much success with regards to facebook marketing? Do you find it brings a lot more traffic to your site/business?

I'm only just starting out and can see it being a slow process although hopefully quite effective at the end of it.

Pocket Money Designs

I created a facebook page for my design business a couple of months ago www.facebook.com/PocketMoneyDesigns I found that its a tough process to attractive people to 'Like' the page. I wouldn't recommend it because for the few people I have connected with hasn't really been worth the time invested in creating the page.

If you are talking about paid advertising on Facebook then that could be more effective but I can still see it going the same way. People log on to facebook to 'socialise' with friends, not to be pitched/sold a product.

Social Media in general can prove very positive for businesses. But as you rightly suggest it can be a slow process and, unless you're careful, it'll just grind to a halt. Happens to many businesses due to impatience and not enough time devoted to it.

The key is having the right person/people running it and doing it often and properly.

Facebook isn't for all businesses but I think it's an absolute cert for your own.

If you need any help, give me a shout.

    Regards

    Mike

you need to have some sort of social marketing campaign.. either using facebook ads, or offer some sort of viral app like quizes, sweepstakes, games etc. You can also buy facebook fans/likes, but that's not recommended for businesses.

On a sidenote...If you are interested, I do have a unique viral facebook app with a much higher roi and way way cheaper than any other alternatives.

    screenshots : http://imgur.com/a/Fr8lg

I can't go into details about all the features here, too long. Message me for more info and a demo. Btw, if you are seriously, i can make 1 for you to try, you only pay me if you are happy with it.

I can customize this to your requirements, including design, layout, your name/logo, adding more features. I can add easter eggs, like user post a link or message about you, and unlocks certain features. Plus a nagging screen at the bottom that goes away if they like you page, or become a fan.

It is a viral app, but doesn't spam, it's clean and ethical. We are talking building long term relationships with your users.

This is a desktop app that's meant to be use everyday, so your brand/bannder appears in front of the user everytime they use it...on their desktop, no competition from other ads.

Even if they don't buy anything from you, you'll get traffic to your website/blog, and they'll sure remember you. You can't get this type of roi with ads, or apps like quizes or games, that are meant to be used only 1-2 times.

And that's the whole point of social media marketing! You don't suppose to sell products on Facebook. You have to create a place where people interested in certain type of products or services can discuss different aspects of these products, where they can share opinions and experience.

If people go to Facebook to socialise not to buy, let them socialise.
