I have created a fan page for my business. When I got over 25 friends I created a 'user name' and thought this would be great to add say on our flyers facebook.com/[our business name], but the only problem is that link now points to my personal profile and not our fan page.

Have I lost the chance to use this domain now or is it possible to redirect it?

Thanks in advance.

You can actually overcome this by declaring the username as abuse... this is available to prevent company names etc. being used by invididuals... like coca cola for example. Once you do this, the name will be freed. Then just go to facebook.com/usernameyouwant and add it, but add it to your page and not your personal profile. You should have the option.

Good luck.

I don't understand though. I was on my fanpage and I clicked on 'user name' and it said 'you have to be on facebook as [your name] to make these changes'. I entered the name I wanted and now its my profile name. I still cant edit the fan page name
I remember when doing mine, I got a choice of which one I wanted to name.

Yes, and you can't use it for you fanpage now because it's in use by your personal profile... you can only have a vanity url/username used once.

So you have to report your username for your personal profile as abuse, then it'll be freed by the facebook admin, so you'll then be able to add it again (this time to your page, and not your profile). As Posilan said, you'll get the option.

I hope that makes sense.

Hi, actually I have changed my personal profile username ones. then I wanted to use it for my fan page. I went to my Account settings of my personal profile and changed my personal profile url (username). Then a few weeks later, I was able to use the previous username for my Fanpage. You have to go http://facebook.com/usernames and check the option at the botom.
Each Page can have a username
Easily direct someone to your Page by setting a username for it. You will not be able to edit or transfer this username once you set it.
Page name:

Good luck!

If you select username for your profile, you can change it once. For example-you have your Facebook default name=>then change it to something else=> then you can change it once again.

As far as I understand, the author set a username once, so he could change it and use the previous username for his Fan page.

I have a company page linked to my personal profile. whenever I try to create a username for this page it tells me the chosen name is not avaliable yet the name is pretty unique and does not exist as a facebook url

eg: facebookcom/mychosenname

Is there any way whatsoever of pursuing this with facebook?
