Facebook and My Space

Beginner question here..

I have heard alot about people starting use Facebook and MySpace for Marketing purposes. I would be interested to know who on the forum uses this method and exactly how they get business out of it....

I have signed up and just starting to get my head around it......

One of my clients (we don't manage this for him I add) generates about 65% of his business from FaceBook, he has developed a group around his business (Photography School/Courses) and uses that to promote new courses, pictures, chat with students and other photographers, he combined that with using Flickr to promote his pictures.

His group is 21988947408, sorry can't post the full URL, not enough posts here yet :)

I'm not sure that social marketing will work for every business but I think products with some thought a lot can be done.

Cheers

Chris

I'm on FaceBook with a personal profile, I really don't see the point of creating a second one for business. I then have lots of friends on FB from UKBF which may or may not help me business-wise, as my profile is full of silly applications and personal stuff. Ho hum :)

I wish someone would show me how to use Facebook - I still have a "Merry Christmass Request" from last year! The whole thing drives me potty. What is this poking thing? What is fun about the fun wall? It has just passed me by :)

Most members will know that I'm a big fan of social networking! The key to making a success out of it for your business is finding the places where your target market go. So for you, Facebook groups for parents could be the place. Another member posed a similar question recently in this thread.

I have pages set up on facebook, and I try to join relevant groups so hopefully some nosey people in the group will look at my profile and be interested in what I do. I find it hard to have time to go on it though, so probably not getting as much out of it as I should.

Yeah I got it and add it to my account. I have joined a couple of groups and also some business ones as well. Being very new at this not sure what will happen and if anything comes of it. Will keep on trying though.....

You maybe want to employ a wee bit caution with the Facebooks apps. ;)

Apparently, some not-so-nice people have been having quite a bit of fun with the wall recently.

I think social networking web sites often get under estimated as a good source of networking and promotion, although I do think it can depend on the type of business you run, it seems to work well for SEO.

Ive just joined the BusinessZone Facebook Group, so I hope to network with others on FB soon.

I use facebook but not myspace. I cant stand myspace any more.

Facebook ... I have my normal profile as myself and I created a group for my business. I think it's a great idea for giving you more presance. And its free so I cant argue really. I also have a yahoo group. Which doesn't do so well.

If anyone would like to add me on facebook feel free to let me know who you are. I'm more than happy to add you to my group and introduce you.

    I'm still trying to get to grips with Facebook and cannot find the answer in the help files, so hopefully someone can clarify this for me;

    I've got a personal profile
I've set up a 'group' that is basically for my business
Someone becomes a 'fan' of my group
Can that 'fan' of my 'group' access my personal profile?

    TIA
