Facebook ads are great for targeting a specific demographic and the data from the analytics are invaluable to help optimise the campaign moving forwards. Extremely cost effective as well. I started out at £1 per day on my first campaign to test the waters and build things up.

How you use them can depend on what your overall goal is.

    Compared to other forms of online advertising, eg Adwords, Facebook allows you to better target the demographic of your audience. It also makes it easier to target people who have previously engaged with your competitors.

    The down-side compared to traditional PPC, is that you are not advertising to people who are searching for your product/service at that particular point in time. Unlike Adwords for example where your adverts only appear to the user at the exact point in time they are interested in seeing your advert.

    We have a client who is in the Pet Care industry (like yourself), and does very well locally on Facebook. Just make sure you have a clear strategy of building your audience before you plough into it.
