I'm not a big fan of facebook, but I like the fact that it can drill down into demographics quite a bit and help me target certain groups better than I'd be able to with Google.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere to get any free credit to give it a try? I'm currently using Google's free £75 when you spend £25 and would be interested in anything similar that facebook might have. Quick Google search seems to show some duff codes that are no longer valid. Can anyone help?

How have people found facebook advertising?

    If you are going down the FB route there are a few things to start with;

    1. Setup a pixel and install it onto your site. You need to start building customer audiences asap, so that you can start re-marketing to your potentials.
    2. If you are e-commerce....setup a product feed.....and use the above pixel code to market your product pages.
    3. Setup conversion tracking

With Facebook advertising information is power....and the above will arm you with more information, before you start with a scattergun approach.

In terms of free vouchers.....not sure about that one.

    Hi there
I don't know of any free codes direct from facebook but I have used the free trial from perfectaudience (I am not an affiliate) which enabled me to retarget visitors to my site.
If you do go direct to facebook then completely agree you need to set up all the pixels so you can retarget. Their guides are easy to follow.
Would also say that it is worth spending some time to really get to know your audience and you can get so much data from facebook using their audience insights (just type audience insights into the facebook search bar) where you can find out data of the fans of popular pages and all sorts of interesting bits of information.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Just a quick got at it today and for about a tenner I've had about 13 clicks to my site and 20 interactions with my promoted post. Not bad for a little bit of local advertising, but only time will tell if it will make the phone ring and bring in any work......

I didn't have a good experience with Facebook, but it wasn't really our audience. We used it for remarketing only, but the vast majority of "clicks" that were reported showed up in our Analytics as lasting 00:00 seconds and a bounce rate of 100%. I did some Googling and other people had similar experiences. There were some rumours of Facebook manufacturing activity to try and keep advertisers there and create the illusion of activity, but I'm not sure.

We certainly never got any business from it, that I know.

Facebook Ads is not something you should just chuck money at and hope it will drive you traffic.

You have some different types of advertising and this depends on what you are trying to achieve i.e: clicks to your website, brand awareness and conversions.

As above the first crucial move is to install a Facebook Pixel. This is an ace tool for retargeting/remarketing on Facebook and to create ads based on the actions that a lead/customer has already taken with your business.

The second most important is to create an ad that stands out and helps potential visitors/leads understand your business and why they should buy from you.

You also need to make sure when you set up an ad, you set good demographics and geographical options so you can laser target your specific audience - this will help reduce "no-good" clicks. You can also use exclusions for this.

Another thing... Consider using Facebook Lead Ads - this is a very powerful ad type for lead generation directly on Facebook.

Please don't think that simply putting a bid and a few words will get you a ton of traffic, it simply won't. Also be prepared to A/B test your ads - this can massively help with improving your campaigns performance.

    Good luck!

search "bing free credit" - £75 and you don't have to spend - better than nothing!

PS - when you set up a Bing account use the "import from adwords" function - you can copy your adwords campaign onto Bing in one click !

Double edged sword FB advertising, I can only tell you from an ecommerce perspective. You need to have an incentive to offer them something. Also users dont tend to want to leave their FB session to go an external website. If you are selling online - then create a page and then embed your products into directly using something like ecwid - it is clooud based so can embed into multiple websites / FB pages etc. Customers can leave feedback on the page about your 'excellent' products.

So users can see real people buying real things and leaving real feedback

Facebook advertising is without doubt the king of the platforms in my view to date. Sure, you can get great results from Adwords and Bing but for our business nothing compares to FB. We have been able to get mega cheap clicks, build lists, make FB pages all from within this platform. One particular test we got 1148 leads and spent $193 (I would have linked to this case study but am new so not allowed yet :-( ) - sure the niche was a good one but you can apply this to most niches. All if you really know your audience.

Never seen any voucher codes - don't worry about that. Just start off with the basics.

1 - If you already have a page with some likes then start by boosting to the existing fans.
2 - If you don't have a page, then get one set up and start boosting some posts to people in your town/demographic with interests of similar nature. (Careful here - they will take your money very quickly if you are not set up well here!)
3 - Set up a pixel on your website - (In fact, this should be the first thing you do) - then when you have an audience start re-targeting these people. This is one of the most effective Facebook strategies any business owner can do - and should be doing.

I am new here in this forum and don't know what the guidelines are but I am happy to talk more to anyone who needs help/advice.

    Good luck!

Here's the thing. People go on Google because they're in a buying mood. If you want a copywriter, or a plumber, or a pair of shoes, or a hotel room, you go to Google and search for one.

People go to Facebook to talk to their friends. They're not in that buying frame of mind. So you've got to work harder just to get noticed.

I'd rather sell to people who are looking to buy than spend time and money shouting at people who aren't listening.
