Hi all,

I have a two part question. I am looking at exporting nutritional chocolate bars to Norway and have a two part question about the vat / export-duty costs.

If both parties are VAT registered (UK and Norway) do I still have to charge VAT on the invoice?

When exporting the product (UK to Norway) - will there be custom/export charges in place?

I am very confused which costs to apply and which to retract to the invoice.

Hope somebody can help :)

Norway is not in the European Union so there will be clearance charges of between £35 and £55 per shipment on export from the UK. You would need to speak to your Norweigan customer as duty and local taxes will be their responsibility. Your local Chamber of Commerce may be able to provide you with a commodity code for your product and possibly be able to confirm the duty value.

If you require a quote for the transport, feel free to give me a call on 0844 415 0005 (ask for Paul)

We export a lot of product daily to Scandinavian countries including Norway.
Norway is not in the common market so tax situation is different.
Is the product for being sent to a business, or an end user at home?
We tend to mail orders to Norway, using CN22, this generally works well. But depends on order value and weight considerations.
