Exporting to Ireland.

I am a one person business making a variety of small items from wood or leather.
I have a customer in County Wicklow, Eire, who last ordered from me before Brexit.
They recently ordered 200 wooden coasters which I made and invoiced them for. They paid the invoice and I sent them via a small sub post office nearby.
3 weeks later the parcel was returned as they had used the old CN22 sticker which I filled in unwittingly.
I looked up the code for wooden items which I think may or may not be right (4419 9000) its not easy!
I took it down to the main post office this time and they used the CN23 customs declaration form. This was on 11th October.
Ive just had the parcel returned by Parcel Force with a pink AN sticker on the CN23 and the "refused" box ticked.

There is no reason given and I have tried to phone Parcel Force on the No. the post office gave me but I need to have an account with them to get through.

How can I send my parcel to my customer? Are the courier companies better than PF, if so which one. Is my code on the CN 23 form wrong. I am clutching at straws. Can I ask my customer to arrange collection. Maybe they know someone in NI who I can send it to and it can be smuggled over the border!

I am rapidly losing the will to live and will never do business with the EU again. Well done Boris, your plan to f..k up the British economy is working well!

    Hi
Whether you use a CN 22 or 23 depends on the value.

For items with a value up to £270 use customs declaration form CN22.For items with a value over £270 use customs declaration form CN23

The commodity/ hs code looks correct for wooden coasters .

Refused on the package would indicate that your customer has refused the shipment. The shipment will be subject to Irish VAT at 23% on import which would usually be collected by the Irish post office. They may also charge an admin fee for doing this.

Have you checked with your customer whether they have refused the package.

AN post seem to do this sometimes (maybe 1 or 2 per 100). We have had this and then resend with all the same data and gets delivered fine the next time.

Double check the tracking though on the PF site and AN post site to see at what point it was rejected and whether customs charges were raised and if the retention period passed.

It could be that the customer received the notification for payment of VAT etc was due but ignored it or didn't receive the notification and the retention period passed. It could then get returned as "rejected".
