I have a potential customer in India, but they have an issue because they need an import licence. Any way around this? They want to do everything legally and it appears they need a licence to import my goods.

1. They obtain the licence and do everything legally.
2. They find a company that has the licence and work with them. In this case be surel who will be responsible for the payments, cargo acceptance etc.
3. If they do not have the licence and cannot find the local company willing to help - find another buyer.

In India, if it is a one time import, they can apply for a temporary import licence..however, it is extremely easy to get an import licence in India and if they are a registered company (any form) and have a business bank account it should only take about 4 days. My Indian company recently got the licence and it wasn't much of a hassle at all.

Hi on_way_to fame,
It seem you have good experience in Import and export procedures. I have read couple of your posting in various threads.

I am an Indian and have been in the UK from 5 years and now a british citizen.

From past few months I have started my business as an import and export sourcing agent. www.vandsint.com

What do your import or export? If you don't mind, would you be to share your experience with me and can I PM you?

Thanks and Regards,
Darshan
