Does anyone have any experience exporting from UK/EU to China? What would I need to think about on the China side? Would I need a Chinese business license etc etc. Any info at all would be great.

From what i have heard the import tax into here is crazy, that seems to kill off most potential imports.

I guess there must be something's with low import duty but then I have not really had time to look at this yet, it will be something I will be looking into when things for me have settle down here.

You will have difficulty setting up a company here, will be easy if you find an agent you can trust or marry a local, ha ha.

Let us know how you get on.

No need to register a business license in China. Just find a agent or parter in China is OK. I'm from China. Maybe I can give you professional suggestions. More details, PM.

This goes for everyone,

I am sure there are people in every country, but with China being the big thing it now is, people need to be very careful.

I am married to a Chinese national. However, we have been victims in dealings with people in China. One such project cost me five thousand pounds. I am still waiting to pay this off.

I have heard of Western people run off without paying, so I know there are bad people everywhere, but China really is a very special case - officially one of the most corrupt places to do business.

If you are selling something to China, you really need to be a big registered company with a relationship/partnership with a Chinese company, preferably a state-run company.

If you are buying from China, be very careful. Have everything checked. Make sure you meet whoever is selling you stuff, and that you check it's originality.

Registering a business licence in China is very difficult, if not impossible if you are not Chinese. Even if you are married to a Chinese national, it often isn't enough.

There are certain hurdles you need to overcome before exporting to China.

You need an Import licence for the product you are importing into China.

You need a Business licence for the trade you are involved in. (For each province you are looking to sell to)

Check carefully on the Import Duties for the product you are looking to import into China.

Do due diligence on any potential customer / partner you are looking to trade with in China.

If you require help, I am happy to offer it.
