Exporting to America - Incoterm

Hi

A new American distributor has agreed to represent us on its marketplace.
It's a great opportunity for us to enter the American market and it will cover north America (Canada + USA) and Mexico.

Our products are quite small and they are packed in small boxes (15 x 15 x 21cm), they do not weigh more than 2 kg each.

We usually ship DAP to Europe and outside Europe via our shipping company however the marketplace portal only seems to accept DDP (not acceptable for us) or CPT.

I am not familiar with CPT and I need to understand what it entails.

Have you used CPT to ship to America?
What are the differences with DAP?

Thank you
Fabien

Using CPT your buyer is accepting the risk as soon as the goods leave your premises. Using DAP the risk is yours until goods are delivered.

DDP would likely as 3 or 4% from experience ( we do DDP to a few customers)
