Exporting from UK to Canada

Hi - about to start exporting textiles (non-haz) from UK to Canada.

Could anyone please advise if there are any special documentary requirements for this export or is it just the usual standard commercial documents i.e. invoice / packing spec / B/L.

All assistance appreciated.

Thanks

You would be best advised to ask your buyer in Canada to check the requirements for importing your product with Canadian Customs or a suitably qualified Customs clearance agent.

Depending what sort of textiles you are shipping, the importer may possibly need an import licence.

It is best (in my opinion) to put the onus on the importer to check the necessary documentation requirements.

From experience, the Canadian Customs can be quite difficult. We have just had a client who sent a consignment of religious books from Europe to Canada which were refused entry because they did not have "printed in Austria" marked on them. They are now on their way back again...

Best regards,
Glen

Off course there are some legal obligations, rules and licensing issues in it. In which product you are dealing with Canada? And the good way to get information about it, is any consultancy firm from UK. I am also from the same business of import and export of different products. The best solution provider consulting firms that i have personally experienced, are:

Ali Baba Consultancy

Wholesale Business Services

Hi,

Exporting to Canada, I'm pretty sure there aren't any extra requirements as long as the goods don't go through a US port first. Ask you're shipping line or agent. They will need all the documents before the vessel sails anyway.

Hope this helps.

Anything else let me know

Dave
