Exporter translation experiences

Hi. I'm working on an ebook about translation for a website called "Export to Japan". It's run in collaboration with UKTI and supports UK companies doing business with Japan.

Might anyone be willing to share experiences of commissioning translation during the export process? (Any country is OK, not just Japan.) For example, what did you translate first? Business cards, website, brochures? Was there anything that was particularly tricky? Anything that you wish you'd done differently with hindsight.

Thanks in advance. It would be great to include some "success stories" and "lessons learned" in the ebook.

Hi David,

Nice website! I'd be very interested to hear what companies expanding into the Spanish typically choose to translate first.

Also, are there any mistakes that you see companies making? What kind of advice do you give them?

Thanks!

Considering that there are about 34 million Hispanophones living within the United States, it's surprising how few US websites translate their website's into Spanish.

I was introduced yesterday to the founder of a company that specializes in translation for social media platforms in 30 languages, including Japanese. If you feel an introduction might be useful, let me know...
