Experienced in Shipping from EU countries

Anyone out there had any experience shipping from EU countries, either from outsourcing the pick/pack/warehousing of goods or from their own premises. If so please tell me of your experiences and are there any services I could use so I am able to ship from the EU.

I'm wondering if we can help as we have been through this process ourselves.
We are a UK based company and we initially registered for IOSS and used to ship our items from the UK to EU but quickly found that customs in EU countries were a pain.
3/5 parcels were still being charged duty and taxes and nothing we could do sorted this out. Personally I think this issue will be there permanently.

So as a solution we decided to setup our own warehouse in France and ship within the EU from there.
