However to answer your question, Never used a staging anything. I just create a subdomain and copy over the site. I can then play an fiddle and it doesn't matter if it breaks.Perhaps you could design a test site to mirror the site (or even a staging area) ....

You choose the option that best suits you. I’ve got my own server so it makes sense to manage it myself.Thank you for your response however, as we weren't sure whether subdomains or staging areas were the more popular route.
That makes no sense.Yes, Siteground staging area is what we're experimenting with. So far it seems to be a valid substitute for test sites.
