Expanding to selling to other businesses

Hello,

Looking for some advice in regards to further expanding one of our current lines.

We supply security products, mainly to the end user and as such for this particular brand we have Amazon, eBay, Play stores as well as our own e-Commerce site. Further to this we also sell directly to Amazon, as well as a few small time installers and a couple of large one off contracts (which we have obtained by being approached)

Now, there are a few other small time resellers within the United Kingdom, and in order for us to secure the sole UK distribution rights we really need to start acting a distributor to other businesses and installers. The product is already sold in the likes of WalMart in America, so ideally we would need to get it into similar large stores before this opportunity is taken away from us.

As we are only a small company, it is quite rare either of us directors get a moment away from dealing with most of the day to day running. What we would really like to do is employ someone on a commission type basis to go out to companies and sell our product, or even just setup the meetings we need (and we can arrange to go and give a presentation or such). Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this at all, with us being so focused on the end user for so long our B2B experience is rather limited.

Many Thanks

Bear in mind that Turnover is Vanity... Profit is sanity - Adding more links in the supply chain will mean margins will be tighter... Just make sure that it's worth your while.

It may be a better strategy to hire help with the existing day to day business, thus releasing one - or more - of the decision makers to forge the new business forward.
