Hello,

I am looking for inspiration on how to source the best upcoming talented PR people who are keen to get stuck into something brilliant. My business has grown quickly and profitably over the past 12 months but I don't think we are making the most of this such as awards, marketing etc...

Any ideas where I can source someone brilliant and hopefully freelance in the North of England ish?

Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan,
I specialise in offering top notch PR for SMEs for whom monthly retainers are not an option. Working on a pay-by-results basis, fees are only charged when coverage is published. Based in Greater Manchester, I work with great companies nationwide. Just let me know if you'd like more information.
Best wishes,
Emma

    Hi Dan

Rather than plugging my own business I will try and answer your question.:)

    1. Put together a brief in terms of what you are looking for. Over the next 12 months what would you like your PR/marketing person to achieve for you/ Outline what skills set you want that person to have ie do they need experience in your sector? with your target audience ? do you want them to help with your media relations, with award entries, gain you speaking opportunities and manager your social media or also wider marketing activity such as advertising, identifying third party marketing opportunities etc

    2. Ask 3 or 4 to provide you with a proposal based on your brief and outline budget. Do make sure you ask them to include information on how they would evaluate the success of any activity they undertake for you.

If you want lots of face to face contact and someone who understands your local media then a local person might be right for you. However if you need someone who understands your sector and trade media this might be more important for you and you can always use SKYPE etc for contact meetings.

You mention 'sourcing upcoming talented PR people' which sounds like you are looking for an entry level graduate. They will be cheaper but they won't necessarily have the experience, contacts and knowledge you are looking for.

If you want a graduate advertise on the jobs boards of one of the Universities offering PR degrees for example Manchester, Cardiff or Bournemouth.

You could contact the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) North West or East Group depending on where you are located and ask for recommendations amongst their members http://www.cipr.co.uk/content/membership-networking/member-groups/regional-groups

You could also contact your local business networking organisations for example Chamber of Commerce and see if they have any members who may have relevant experience.

    Good luck.
