Yes, we started discussing it on here when it was first put forward to the EU law makers or whoever is responsible for creating these ridiculous things. We were all up in arms then but there was nothing we could do to prevent it. I think (but could be wrong) that it was passed as an EU regulation in 2011 and then had to be adopted by the individual countries after that. It's finally come round.

The BBC are such idiots, I absolutely hate them.

They are reporting that all goods bought online will be refunded return postage costs, that's not just faulty goods it's all goods. Honestly I kid you not, I bloody panicked there, if that had happened Ecommerce would be doomed. I had to double check the regs to be sure.

Honestly turn on the bbc news 24 and listen to it, it beggars belief. They'll probably change it later today when they get a barrage of complaints but they won't admit to it, because oh no nobody at the BBC is ever wrong are they? Bloody idiots, probably end up getting loads of misinformed customers giving me hassle now.

They always do this. Watchdog is great for giving out incomplete consumer rights.
Especially the bit where postage is not refunded where the customer has used a more expensive express delivery option.

I haven't quite worked out the way to get all customers to select "the more expensive delivery option" (which we make a profit on) to make up for the refunds of the cheaper delivery option....guess you could do what Amazon sellers do and say the cheap one takes a very long time?

Yes, I read that bit and thought "that could be totally abused - just charge £5 for 2-3 day delivery but offer free 28 day delivery..." That way everyone would choose the paid option but only get a refund of the standard "free" option!

But that would be kind of taking the micky.

We'll stick to our existing delivery options...

I don't think people would choose the 2-3 day option. I think they would leave and shop elsewhere.

We offer free delivery for 3-5 working day, 2-3 days is £3.50 and a next day option.
The majority of our orders are still for free delivery.

I'm still looking for a courier that offers free delivery though
