How do businesses go about finding a good company to help them with there exhibition and event branding solutions?

It would be interesting to understand the process better from a buyers point of view so we can tailor our service to suit.

Do you buy online and find the product or service you want using google? or maybe go to your marketing and design agency for help? or maybe you use a company which has been referred to you?

I would be really interested in your thoughts.

Thanks

David

Hi

I don't know if this will be of help but when I worked at a busy marketing agency most of our clients would use us to design and produce their event material..

However, when I worked client side I found that we would google local print companies and go based on reccomendations and quotes.

I think it can be very much a bit of both!

I think reputation and reccomendation is everything.

Hi David I'm project director at Creatively Minded and I deal with all aspects of making sure that our projects run on time and exceed our clients expectations. With regards to your query from our opinion you should always look for the right expert which in our case mostly comes from recommendation from our clients or advocates and friends.

We engage our clients and find out through a detailed questionnaire what end result they are looking for and who there ideal target market is. With doing it this way research gets done from both sides and from this 9 out of ten times you also get the buyers view.

every business deals with this in different ways as we are all unique and we all work in different ways.

My suggestion to you is go out into that market and discover it for your self. I do this on a regular basis where prospective clients ask for information and if I can't give them the complete picture I say that to them but also say I will get back to them with more information at which point I go out myself and find that information.

Kind Regards

Ours is very niche and enquiries come in one of three ways:

As the preferred supplier to the organisers
Through referrals
Via the website

Note:- Most of the companies are very established and branding is not the issue but how we can assist them to stand out from other exhibitors.

Thanks for the information. I have been involved with selling graphics and displays and branding solutions for 10 years or so and always like to find out if the buying patterns are changing. My own company is just a year old and I have found it hard in the last year to get the volume of business I used to get.

What I have found is that there are agencies who buy for their clients and I suppose it just takes time to build relationships with them. Then there are the end users who have preferred suppliers or google for the product.

Would there be a particular "best practise" to introduce our products services to the buyer within an agency or end user client? Telephone/Email/Letter?

Do you think a fantastic website with a lot of products/relevent information/branded well would do anything other than help our business?

Or do you think the most important element is the person liaising with the customer whether agency or end user via whatever introduction has worked?

Sorry for all the questions but it is good to get some quality feedback.

You should try and get involved with some big exhibitions and maybe get on a preferred suppliers list. Also, scour the events websites a few months prior to the event going live as there is always exhibitor information available and you could contact them direct. A good website well indexed on google will also help as will advertising on event websites and getting a good relationship with marketing agencies.

When we did an event we got contacted by various event services and if you could have tailored a package to suit the mid range to large scale attendee you would have done well.

Hi Media Monitor

Thanks for your reply. Whilst speaking to some of my end user clients they all say that the exhibitor lists are now being bombarded with cold callers and email offers. I was doing this 5 years ago and everyone seems to have cottoned onto this idea. What do you think would be the best way to stand out from the crowd? I'm needing a differentiation.

Great idea about the big exhibitions preferred supplier but so hard to do.

could you create an event guide in a pdf or mini brochure, or something that gives the end user some information that will help them. Put it on your website and ask people to register their to download it. Email and direct mail a list with a link to it and follow-up the responders.
