EV Certificate - DBA verification in the UK?

Hi everyone.

We've just purchased an EV SSL Certificate.

We wish to have our DBA (Doing Business as/ Trading name) appear in the certificates green bar.

The CA (Comodo) requires that we verify our trading name.

Since trading names are not required to be registered in the UK, does anyone have any information on how we can get our trading name confirmed without having to register it as a trademark (£170) or a legal/accountant letter (more cost)?

We'll go down this route of course if there's no alternative. But we don't want to spend extra if indeed there's an easier (less costly) way.?

Regards,

Eli

Trademarking will be the best way to get it approved. Otherwise you may end up needing a Lawyers Opinion Letter to confirm (sometimes under oath) that you are trading under that name. You may need to also supply evidence of trade under that name.

However your company name will still appear in the Address bar which can make it very long.

It will be in the format:

[Doing Business As (Company Name Limited)]
