Estate Agents Sign Posts

Calibre Designs

I personally wouldn't touch 1and1 with the longest barge pole I could find. I had a run in with them and don't like the way they work.

Can you please elaborate on your bad experience with them or will that take too long? I am shocked. Maybe the level of service varies a bit. Every time I have had a query, an answer is always waiting for me within 24hrs. Technical answers and once I had no idea what they were talking about so they wrote a huge email to me which was extremely detailed providing a step by step guide.

Not a single problem since.

Many thanks

I would suggest you create say 1000 a5 colour leaflets, and mail them to each agent (not all of them to one !&*^*&^!!! with an opening offer being based on a cheaper price than some of the competition. We print estate agent signs for a large number of customers throughout the uk, and would be happy to reciprocate some work, as we print for agents most probably in your area, and would be happy to pass you leads.

Good Luck

hi, i realise this is an old thread but just wondered id dagsky got this idea off the starting blocks. If hes still here and still thinking of erecting boards then I have some advice.
This is what I do for a living, its not as easy as people think. Its increadably difficult to get the business from the agents in the first place, they will already have a board contractor erecting signs for them, the only way most agents will concider someone else is if their current contractor is giving bad service. Most agents want the boards out within 48 hours and if theyre already getting that, then why go else where to someone they dont know from adam? price will come into it with some agents but its very difficult to talk to the people who actualy make the dicissions if its a larger agent. There was a guy localy to me bought into one of the franchices thinking he'd get business easily, he went round a few of my customers and got nowhere, one of the agents even rang me to tell me and said even if he offered to erect his signs for £2 less he would be interested because he knows i give a good service.
Other factors to take into account, the weather, great job on sunny days, nightmare when the gales come, you cant work so the jobs back up, plus you always get storm damage which comes out of my pocket. Vandalised signs. Decent storeage. Good quality power tools. Decent sized van, some sign erectors use pick ups, dont bother, when it rains all the timber gets wet. Theres lots more, little things ive learned over years, like the best ways to actualy erect the signs.

In central London the market is fiercely competitive. We set up our own company to do our boards for 8 offices and were left scratching our heads as to how these people were making a reasonable living.

Also be aware of your potential liability if you erect a board erropneously and the local council takes action against the EA for misrepresentation or a planning breach.

If you are already set up with a van and tools of the trade then a direct "walk in" approach should work better than flowery brochures etc. Let the decision maker see your set up and meet you to decide!

Best of luck!

I also recommend that you pay particular attention to accurate record keeping and have a suitable system for reminding to remove boards after statutory time limits. All board movements ordered should be in writing - never verbally.
