I'm looking to improve my general knowledge of business and finance, so I'm looking for some recommendations on books to read.

Any book recommendations are highly appreciated.

The difficulty with accounting is that it covers so much. You may perhaps find some of the AAT study text books produced by Kaplan helpful?

Youtube should be a useful resource.

https://opentuition.com/ also caters to major courses (e.g. ACCA, CIMA or FIA) and offers free downloadable texts for students and you can find youtube tutorials for the different papers as well.

The only problem with using study texts is that they may not go into details of every topic, so you do have to do your own research and look up information on the gov.uk websites when it comes to PAYE, Income Tax, Corporation Tax, and VAT. The study texts usually cover the basics and make assumptions for ease of examination.

Also, look up books by Frank Wood, they are highly recommended for students learning accounting or bookkeeping.
