Escrow, Paypal and Shipping

Hello,

I imagine, after reading threads that Escrow is the best way to pay for a first time buyer who is afraid to be scammed from China.
How safe is it to use Escrow?

I have been using paypal to pay locally and at times I couldn't get my money back for items which didn't work, I get money back when the seller decides it's right or when I can prove I didn't receive what I bought.
Is it safe to pay a supplier, seller in China by paypal?
What the maximum one can safely transact through paypal?

I would like for the first products I purchase to be sent to the airport then I can collect and pay custom duties from there.
How does it work in China? I understand FOB is when they take the products up to to the last point before they are sent outside China (airport of port). Is that OK?

Will be very grateful if i got some enlightenments about this.

hello, paypal is safe as well as escrow. if you use paypal to pay, you can get your money if you have problem with the goods within 45 days after you pay. You can declare a dispute. Of course, escrow is also safe. if you didn't receive the goods, you can get money back easily. after you get the goods, you need to confirm to finish the order, then the sellers can get the money. for the shipping, from china to uk, ems and dhl are ok. of course, sometimes, customs in uk will charge some taxes. so you need to ask the sellers to declare the value lower than 50euros or 20euros. i think that's ok for the shipping.

Both Paypal & Escrow are safe enough for you to import from China. Don't worry about it.

To pay through Paypal, there is no amount limitation. Frankly speaking, Paypal is the best choice for small amount. For big amount, the commission is too high. It's high to 3.9% + USD0.3. You need to check with your supplier if they can accept to pay through Paypal. Maybe you need to bear this commission. Although the seller can accept to bear this commission, it's still added to the cost of the product.

The supplier in China need to send the goods to the airport of delivery. You DON'T need to pay anything in China mainland. You only need to pay the insurance, airfreight, UK import duty if applicable, VAT, UK local handling charge from the forwarder or Customs. That's OK.

Using an FSA authorised and regulated escrow company (such as Transpact.com) fully secures you.

Just make sure that the conditions you agree (on which to base the escrow payment) covers all eventualities.
If the conditions do, then you are fully secured.
