EPOS Help- First Post

Hi Guys

This is my first post so please excuse me for any mistakes.

Having got the premises, we've the set the company up as a limited and VAT registered. We are currently carrying out building works, negotiating products with suppliers, at the same time looking into EPOS systems.

Having spent weeks looking on line at 'off the shelf' systems, we didn't feel to confident in them. There was a lot of info on how low up front cost but higher maintenance and on going support costs mean these systems are generally more expensive.

We have had meetings with a company called MerlinSoft, and the gentlemen who we have been speaking to seems like a knowledgeable experienced person.

Has any one dealt with these guys? or is anyone currently using them?

We are purchasing the goods upfront as we can't lease due to being a new business but would like some advice before we depart with our funds.

Any advice and help would be appreciated.

Regards

What are you selling, what do you want to use your EPoS system for ?
Will you be needing a car dpayment facility
Is the option to lease the system critical to you ? We specialise in lease options for start up businesses who are implementing EPoS solutions.

Tx for this, how many lines will you be carrying ?

Our EPoS systems can manage the majority of what you want to do, the scheduling of order deliveries might be the only thing we cannot do as standard, but we can work with you to create a web based solution to run alongside..

With regards to your funding options we can either fully lease a solution to you, or you can purchase outright or a mixture of both.

If you would like to develop this dialogue further please PM me and I can arrange for someone to contact you who is based in the Nottingham area, if you like.

Hi,

We can certainly provide the remote access for you, as our retail system is cloud-based.

We can meet all other requirements with the exception of delivery scheduling, which is currently on our road map. Please PM us if you'd like to discuss this further, happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hello

Thank you very much for your responses.

We would much rather prefer a system that can cater for all the things we do from the beginning.

Our concern is that, if the additional items we require, are currently being developed or are add ons using other systems if there is any problems this could have a knock on effect. If the system has everything built in, it means in theory, this is tried and tested and easily maintained.

Once again thank you for your advice.

Dealt with Merlin years ago when I was involved in the pet and garden product industry and trialled their Epos software. Was very good then but we tripped it up on the way it was calculating weigh and save type products (particularly important for us at the time). However, Merlin was the best we came across and we had trialled many, many epos systems including some from the USA. In the end we spent £13000 on a system (not Merlin) that we abandoned within 18 months because the remote upload conflicted with our card machines all of the time. It was a nightmare. Personally, I dealt with Merlin and found them helpful and approachable, just what would have been needed in a business with multiple (remote) outlets, the support would have been vital.

Hello

Thanks for your reply. Like you stated, we equally found them very approachable and helpful.

When we were looking to lease the equipment, we thought we can manage the cost of the EPOS, and if anything went wrong at least we would not have parted with all our funds in one go.

Now that we are looking to purchase the system outright, we thought we would get some additional advise and see what others thought of them, their product, and support. It would be sad to depart with our funds and realise we made a mistake.

We feel having people give their real and true experience is valuable in helping us make a good decision.

If there is anyone else who has dealt with Merlin Software, we would again sincerely appreciate your advice and feedback.
