You don't need an EORI number to export by post.
Printed CN22 from royal mail website has a space for EORI number. Strange that RM would include what you say is not needed eh?
So, as I asked before, where did you get your information that a EORI is not required when using the Royal Mail?It is indeed very strange that the Royal Mail help page for business exporting, that you helpfully link to, has a link to the CN22 that has no space for an EORI number.

Tried a printed one recently from click & drop?
EORI number.
I use the ones that the nice lady behind the counter gives me (the new style ones, not the old stock).
No space for EORI, only HS tariff code and VAT number.
I have only used my EORI number when required by an overseas supplier from whom I am importing.
No, it's the new stock. We discarded all the old stock just the other week.Perhaps they are using up old stock until they run out then get new printed.
Whereas those of us printing the form have access to the new one straight away.

See https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...-a-guide-for-international-post-users#exports updated a few days ago. No requirement for EORI
Then perhaps those dealing with the printing out as needed version have a newer stock than you.
So who should be believed? Royal Mail? Or government?
See my earlier point, The link you gave to the RM business help page has a link to the CN22 with no EORI field.
I have asked the EORI team. They were quite responsive the other day so I am helpful of a fairly quick answer.
Click and Drop Def has EORI space, you need to update your in the Trading Name section
Last week I questioned why me as NI customer am getting CN22 labels for my EU shipments the girl from click and drop thought I needed them, then after checking again confirmed I didn't she has now created a ticket with their support team to figure this out.
So there are at least two different CN22, three if we count the recently superceded one which can still be used "whilst stocks last" according to the local postmistress. And yet the CN22 I printed yesterday has EORI printed on it.
Perhaps the click'n'drop development team are just as confused as a lot of other people and haven't read the government guidance for postal exports. What do royal mail spend money on updating their computer system to produce a product at the other end for if it doesn't need something?
Do businesses commonly waste money on such things?

Or perhaps the web devs are clueless about the need to update the online CN22.
You tell me![]()
"Royal Mail’s shipping platforms may produce customs documentation (CN22 or CN23) but these do not need to be attached to the outside of the parcel" ’
Correct. Neither have a space for a EORI number.I believe there are two different CN22 forms available from the post office. One with a barcode and one without. The one with a barcode is used for postal services that do not have tracking, and the one without the barcode is used for tracked services that already have a barcode on the post office sticker for the service used. Thats what I hot told by the post office staff.
Is there now a further risk the recipient will get charged VAT which they may have already paid you for, as the CN22 could be seen as an acknowledgment that charges are possibly due?I've re-generated my label with Click and Drop and added the CN22 just incase!
