EORI - is this required for a business that only provides services?

we run a small consultancy that advises businesses in the UK and EU countries (and elsewhere) - we don’t supply any physical goods - it’s all done in emails, telephone calls etc.
Do we need to apply for an EORI number?

I don't believe so.

EORI numbers are only for importing and exporting goods and would be supplied to a freight forwarder or agent who is dealing with your product.

Since you are only providing a service you don't have a need for an EORI number.

EORI numbers are for goods only .The company that are importing/ exporting require one

It may even be required in the EU should we leave without a deal

If we have no trade agreement with the EU you will require an EORI number and this is a good example of people not taking leaving the EU seriously
