Enterprise Level Hosting Needed

We are currently building a software system in PHP and MySQL which will store company documents including for example purchase invoices. The amount of data will be fairly small maybe 1 or 2 Gb but ensuring we have 24/7 access and no data loss is vital. We need a company to host the system possibly with a VPN

So we want UK based virtual servers from a company that can provide personal technical support in English not technogabble. For example we will need to point existing URL's to the server and really don't want to learn about DNS settings from geeks who think we are so stupid that we shouldn't be wasting the earth's oxygen supply.

We want reassurance and solidity rather than cheapness.

Can anyone make any suggestions as to companies who might fit the bill?

We've had a VPS with Namesco for years and found them to be very reliable and easy to talk to. I've found that they will talk you though what needs to be done in laymans terms.

I don't think they're the cheapest but I don't mind paying extra for good technical support.

A virtual private server makes more sense over dedicated hardware thanks to the increased resilience they offer.

Was going to suggest Rackspace as have used them for a number of years on a variety of projects and have always found them excellent.

Not the cheapest, but as they say "you get what you pay for" and their customer support is top notch.

we have provided similar services in the past, mainly related to automated airtime provisioning, purchasing and activations (a few hundred a month) for Satcom suppliers.
