I am about to set up an LTD from April 6th and will be employing one employee in the business.

Anyone here who is an HR expert that i can talk to, as i need contract of employment and an employee handbook.

Please, please, please do NOT do that. The documents provided cheaply on the internet are more often than not far from fit for purpose.

We have to help clients of our Employment Law business constantly to put things right. So many of these websites repurpose American documents which include terms that simply don't apply in England&Wales, Scotland or NI.

Are you saying that Simply Docs repurpose American documents which include terms that simply don't apply in England&Wales?

I've had quite a few contracts from them over the years, so I'd like to take this up with them if this is true...

I'm can't speak for SimplyDocs but there are several similar websites (I won't name them for obvious reasons) and what I said above applies to every single one of which I have had the pleasure of being handed a contract by clients.

Considering SimplyDocs are at the lower end of what those websites charge I would not expect the quality to be better.

That aside, there is a reason why HR providers or solicitors build in 1-2 hours in their fees to complete a contract to the requirements of a business and to explain how to use the supplied template in the future (plus to provide updates when legislation changes - we are looking at a significant change in employment legislation in April). A blank template, even if based entirely on UK legislation, is risky and paying more than £35 at the beginning is a much better investment than defending a claim further down the line. Employment contracts are less likely to cause an issue than SHAs, consultancy agreements etc. of course.
