I recently checked the HMRC app and noticed that there is no record of my employment.I contacted HMRC, and they confirmed that my employer has not been submitting my earnings in other words, they have not been sending the required payroll information.

I then spoke to my employer, and they claimed that my records are up to date on their end. However, HMRC continues to state that they have not received any information, which is why my employment does not appear on their system.

I have all my payslips, P60s, and bank statements as evidence of my employment and salary payments,i always work minimum of 40 hours weekly.

I would appreciate advice on the best steps to take to resolve this situation. My employer is deducting taxes and NI from my payslips

First check that the information your employer has is identical to the information on your HMRC account.

    Then speak to your union.

It sounds like you have worked with your employer for a while as you mention P60s?

There are many things which could have gone wrong here. So a bit of investigation work needs to be done first.

Is your employer a large or small organisation? If large then they should have a payroll or HR department - you can approach them to explain your concerns and see what they have to say.

If small then an approach may be to sit down with "your boss" and express your concerns. They should be able to show you the monthly submissions that they have made to HMRC e.g. the Full Payment Submission (FPS) to tell HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) about payments to your employees and what deductions made as well as a Employer Payment Summary (EPS). These would be generated from their payroll system.

Things can go wrong with HMRC. So if your employer has all the records then they need to approach HMRC to see what the mix up is.

Or, it may be as simple as the employer's payroll record showing different information from HMRC record - date of birth, name spelling etc. I had one recently when, following TUPE, one employee insisted that we had not set him up on Nest as he had checked his record and contributions stopped when the TUPE happened. It turned out his original Nest record was set up with forename and surname reversed.

Yep ... it's amazing what can go wrong. Seeing the submissions will give the OP that the info is there and there's a gremlin in the system somewhere.

Hopefully it can be resolved quite easily ... although resolving anything with HMRC is often not that easy :p:eek:🤣
