Hello

I want to start a business that would be able to offer all forms of embroidery works, be it conventional types or digitized designs that can be loaded in to machines to get the work done.

I did see that there are already some players in this area here in UK but as a newbie I would really appreciate any form of advise and comments that can help me get this started in some way. I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have in this regard.

Some things that I felt would help were the following, however don't know how to go about finding this information,
  • How big is the market
  • Who are the big fishes
  • Rates
Thanks

Thanks Mr D. In a nutshell, anything and everything that can be associated with embroidery can be offered. Additionally, we can also provide digitized formats of the designs as required, this can be done in 24 hours!!

My idea was to target sporting clubs and schools to start with. And in the industrial sector where companies use logos on their staff uniforms.

So workwear as one area. Decoration as another? Tablecloths and so on.
Used to be a seller on amazon a few years back doing personalised napkins for weddings.

Your potential targets may already have companies providing the service, just be aware they can fight to keep the contract as much as you fight to get it.

Stitches trade show for the machines, about 6 weeks ago. There's at least one printing trade show - from what someone else said that includes printing onto clothing. Possibly of use to you.
Whether general trade shows to offer your services to companies would suit you?
Advertise in trade mags (there are a number of them)?

Primark may well get the work done at the place doing the clothing. Bangladesh for them?
Sure you want to take on big clients? Able to cope with large orders, long payment terms, returns and risk of being a creditor? I'm fairly sure some creditors of Carillion weren't happy about being owed so much money, less happy when the company went under.
